Rest Days

Hope everyone is doing okay!

Today is my rest day!😍
My friends and I, and I've shared it with some people too, started working out together and it has been a week! yey us!

I'm gonna share our workout routine with you guys in another post cuz I only posted it in Arabic, it's not fair. I appreciate you guys viewing my blog. It makes me really happy to see you come from different countries around the world.❤️❤️

So,

Since today is my rest day, as I mentioned earlier I'd love to talk to you guys about why is it so important to rest when exercising and what can we do in our recovery days?

First of all, why must we have a rest day?

rest days are very important for your body to give your muscle some time to recover from exercising and adapt to new changes. And also give it a break so that we don't over exercise and damage some tissues.

I always just 'rest' in my rest days. Mostly read more than usual with a cup of tea or coffee. But then I thought what if there were more fun and useful stuff I can do in my rest days? what if I was missing out on something?

So I did some digging an read a couple or articles about rest and recovery days and why is it so important.

One of the articles I read online (sorry I don't recall the source) says that it is a good idea to do some light exercising during our rest days rather than simply lying on the couch. Such as, walking your dog or biking or if your a girl I'd say go shopping that can be quiet the exercise 😜. Do something but do not do an activity that will make you sweat, keep it low intensity. 
Another great idea I liked very much is to loosen up, relax, stretch and do relaxing yoga for not more than 20 minutes.
They also talked about eating smart during rest days, which means focus on the food you're missing during the previous week. Sometimes we get caught up in or daily life that we have the same nutritions all week. So sit down, relax and cook yourself a yummy healthy meal.
and my most favourite, sleep!
make sure you get from 7-9 hours of sleep daily. And in case you weren't sleeping well last week you've got your rest day to make up for it. Hit the pillow early that night and sweet dreams 💤

Personally,

I think I might stick to my plan, reading with tea or coffee. If you have been exercising well that you feel so proud and satisfied with yourself and your accomplishments I say you freaking deserve it!
Go be a proud couch potato!
